Activate Facebook’s Timeline and 5 Privacy changes you should consider

Everyone now and then when Facebook changes its layout, you will get to hear about how awful the changes are from your friend’s status updates and even maybe a group setup up against the new changes. However, the Timeline design seems to be having ad a positive reaction from my peers and my friends, maybe its cause this time round the new Timeline lets the users be the designers.
Facebook Timeline is being phased out worldwide, however if you are eager to use the new layout then head over to www.facebook.com/timeline and activate it by logging to your Facebook account and clicking on the activation button on the bottom right. Or you can choose to wait till Facebook notifies you to activate the new Timeline design. If you don’t like the new design, then tough, I don’t think you will have an option when Facebook activates the new Timeline design for you.
5 Key Privacy changes you should consider
Hide old updates from Timeline
If you want to hide old status updates, links to articles or photos on your Timeline layout, then click on the pencil icon on the status and select ‘Hide from Timeline’. If your looking for a particular post then use visual timeline on the top right to navigate around to when you updated your status.
Manage your Activity Log
If you want to hide or restrict certain posts from certain groups of friends then all you need to do is click on Cogwheel of your post and then select who can see your post. You can change the view settings to Public, only Friends, Only you or Custom setting where you can select who can and cannot see your post.
Feature Posts on Timeline
Facebook will automatically feature some old posts and photo albums on your Timeline on your first activation. However if you want to feature an old status update or photo album on your Timeline then hover over the top right of your post and click on the star icon and the post will appear on your Timeline.
Add your Cover Photo
The new Timeline features a large photo area on the top of your Facebook profile called a cover photo. You will get to choose what photo you want as a cover page on your main Facebook profile of your Timeline. However, as cool as it sounds you must know that your cover photo is not private, so anyone in the Facebook can see it.
View Profile as Public
Once you have completed all the above then its worth the effort to check what your Timeline profile looks in Public view. Click on the cogwheel under your cover photo and select ‘View as..’ and this will automatically show how your profile appears in Public, your subscribers and you also have the option to add your friends name in to see what they can see on your Timeline.
If you have completed all the above then you are ready to enjoy and reminiscence over your old posts and photos.
