Apple has just launched iBooks 2 with some great new features. If you downloaded iBooks and worried now you need to spend money to download the new iBooks 2 app, then don’t fear iBooks 2 is free to update to those who have installed iBooks from the App store.
iBooks 2 is compatible with iPhone models, iPad and iPad 2 and the iPod touch.
iBooks 2 has some serious new features, multi-touch textbooks that brings photos, watch full videos and diagrams to the reader. Rotate 3D objects and highlight texts with swiping over texts or add notes to your favorite passages.

iBooks 2 features:
• Experience gorgeous Multi-Touch textbooks designed for iPad
• iBooks textbooks are filled with interactive features, diagrams, photos, and videos
• Tap to dive into images with interactive captions, rotate 3D objects, swipe through image galleries, watch videos in full screen, and more
• Use a finger as a highlighter when swiping over text in a textbook
• Take advantage of Study Cards to help you memorize important highlights, notes, and glossary terms
• Tap glossary terms to see definitions of key topics and concepts without leaving the page
Other interesting thing to note is that Apple is allowing publishers and users to create their own interactive textbooks for free by using its own iBooks Author app.
At the moment UK users will find that textbooks are only available in the US. The size of the text books can range from 1Gb to 3GB so word of advise is to think it through which book you want to download if you are limited in storage space.
