Today Samsung has officially launched its White Samsung Galaxy Note in the UK. The White Samsung Galaxy Note will still have the same features in the Black model, 5.3 inch screen and dual core processor.

The White Samsung Galaxy Note will be sold today at John Lewis at its Oxford Street branch. It will be priced as same as the Black Galaxy Note and be expected to pay over £400.

If you are thinking of getting one then I would hurry as the first 100 White Samsung Galaxy Notes to be sold first today will recieve £250s worth of music, movies and eBooks for free at John Lewis store in Oxford street.

‘At Samsung we always offer our customers choice and are delighted to bring the Galaxy Note in white to the UK.’ said Simon Standford, managing director of Samsunf UK. It appears Samsung are looking to appealto more users by adding the white model, well if the sales were good for the White iPhone and White Blackberry, then why not for the Galaxy Note.

Other retail stores and mobile network operators will stock the new White Samsung Galaxy Note in February, so if you are in no rush then you can wait till then.

The White Samsung Galaxy Note comes with Android Gingerbread 2.3, the latest Ice Cream Sandwich 4.0 operating system is due to be released for the Galaxy Note by April.

Apple launches new iBooks 2

Apple has just launched iBooks 2 with some great new features. If you downloaded iBooks and worried now you need to spend money to download the new iBooks 2 app, then don’t fear iBooks 2 is free to update to those who have installed iBooks from the App store.

iBooks 2 is compatible with iPhone models, iPad and iPad 2 and the iPod touch.

iBooks 2 has some serious new features, multi-touch textbooks that brings photos, watch full videos and diagrams to the reader. Rotate 3D objects and highlight texts with swiping over texts or add notes to your favorite passages.

iBooks 2 features:

• Experience gorgeous Multi-Touch textbooks designed for iPad
• iBooks textbooks are filled with interactive features, diagrams, photos, and videos
• Tap to dive into images with interactive captions, rotate 3D objects, swipe through image galleries, watch videos in full screen, and more
• Use a finger as a highlighter when swiping over text in a textbook
• Take advantage of Study Cards to help you memorize important highlights, notes, and glossary terms
• Tap glossary terms to see definitions of key topics and concepts without leaving the page

Other interesting thing to note is that Apple is allowing publishers and users to create their own interactive textbooks for free by using its own iBooks Author app.

At the moment UK users will find that textbooks are only available in the US. The size of the text books can range from 1Gb to 3GB so word of advise is to think it through which book you want to download if you are limited in storage space.

Samsung Galaxy S3 Key Facts

There are a lot of speculations out there at the moment about the Samsung Galaxy SIII and there some dodgy looking concept designs with peoples own opinion on what they may expect.

Let me tell you what features you are likely to see on the Samsung Galaxy SIII

One of the key differences you will notice is the Display Screen. The new Galaxy SIII is expected to feature a large 4.6-inch Super AMOLED display with a resolution of 1280 x 1024. However, some sources claim that it will have a 3D display screen. Well, 3D mobile screens has not really taken off yet, so given the condition of the current market with consumers limited purchasing you don’t want to scare them away from buying, so its highly unlikely you would see it on the Galaxy S3.

Likely Specifications of Samsung Galaxy SII

4.6″ 1280×720 resolution HD Super AMOLED Screen (Maybe 3D?)

Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich

2GB RAM

16 or 32 Gb of internal memory

1.8GHz Quadcore Samsung Exynos CPU

12MP Camera with 1080p Recording

2 megapixel front-facing camera

9mm thick body

The Samsung Galaxy SIII looks likely to be announced at Mobile World Congress 2012 in February.

Android Ice Cream Sandwich demo on Asus Transformer Prime tablet

Asus Transformer Prime tablet PC could get the latest release of Android Ice Cream Sandwich 4.0 update tomorrow.

We are impressed by how fast and smooth it runs on the Asus Transformer Prime and from the initial review it didn’t seem to lag in any way when selecting different apps.

Other users have commented that they have also received the Android Ice Cream Sandwich updates early before. A few issues were identified from users such as the auto rotate not working after the device being idle for some time and issues with stock launcher forcing you to close the app.

However, this update doesn’t come with some Ice Cream Sandwich features, key feature it doesn’t include is the Face Unlock.

Samsung shows off Motion Control, Voice Control and Face Recognition Smart TV

Samsung has announced at the Consumer Electronics Show in Las Vegas today its new Smart TV, so tell me what is so special about it? Well, it has integrated Motion Control, Voice Control and yes Face recognition.

I know what you are thinking, this is every mans dream, to change the remote without ever having to get out of the sofa. Other features include Motion control and face recognition.

Currently the face recognition feature is only used to unlock your Smart Hub profile where it stores apps. Apps for the TV? Yes, Samsung are looking to have their own app store called Smart Hub for TVs. I wont be surprised if Smart Hub is slowly integrated to other devices.

Samsung have also suggested that it will open their APIs to developers so they can develop and build apps that make full use of its motion control, voice control and face recognition features.

Watch the video of the new Samsung Smart TV being presented at the CES today.

Would you get this TV and why? Leave a comment below.

Visitors and residents in Westminster and Kensington and Chelsea will be able to access free WiFi on their smartphones, laptops and tablet devices this summer during the Olympics thanks to mobile network operator O2.

A statement released from O2 mentioned that they will be installing Metro wireless network units to street furniture’s from this month. Once it goes live it will be the largest free WiFi zone in Europe.

So are the taxpayers picking up the costs? No, there are no costs to the councils or the taxpayers – yes you heard me right, nothing, nada, vilch.

“Our £500m annual network investment programme is focused on integrating new layers of technology into the existing network to enable a seamless and sustained customer experience. We are driven entirely by our customers’ needs and believe that services should be delivered in the best possible way, across multiple networks and supported by different technologies.” Said Derek McManus, O2 Chief Operating Officer in their statement.

How are O2 managing to give free WiFi?

Well, O2 will require users to go through a one off registration process to access the free WiFi network, and then O2 will display subsidised adverts on users smartphones, laptops or tablet devices, this is how they can make some money back on their initial investment.

Is the free WiFi limited in any way?

Well, don’t get too carried away. The purpose of the free WiFi is to allow users to watch video clips, access social networks and browse the web, however start streaming movies or downloading large files then expect O2 to flag you for inappropriate use of their free WiFi service.

Do you think this is a good idea? Or just a bad idea ? Leave a comment below.

LG Electronics to launch 55 inch OLED TV which is 4mm-thick

LG Electronics has officially written in its blog that it will be launching a 55 inch OLED TV which is only 4mm thick. LG will launch the new OLED TV at the Consumer Electronics Show, which is taking place in Las Vegas now.

Hold on a minute, OLED? Well, OLED stands for ‘organic light-emitting diode’.

What is the difference between OLED and LED TV? Well, to simplify this, let’s take a step back to LCD TV’s.

Liquid Crystal Panel (LCD) TVs panels are filled with liquid crystals to give a clear and colourful picture on the display. The LCD TVs’ are lit from behind through a clear film.

Now, let me explain to you about current LED TVs. Remember how I mentioned the LCD TV’s are lit from behind to give you a clear image? Well, older models used florescent lights as a backlight to the LCD screen.

Then the florescent light got replaced by LEDs, as they are brighter and make it full of colour. This is the interesting part, to make it look attractive to consumers, yes people like you and me, and they named the same LCD TV as LED TV. Its sounds better then LCD with LED TV.

OLED TV is completely different, the OLED display works without a backlight, the OLED is a light-emitting diode (LED) in which the emissive electroluminescent layer is a film of organic compounds which emit light in response to an electric current. Therefore, it can display better images and be thinner and lighter than LCD TV’s.

LS’s 55 inch OLED TV has an impressive refresh rate of 1000 times than LCD TVs and will feature 4-colour pixels (red, white, blue and green) and colour refiner working together to bring viewers high quality images, sharper images and brighter screen.

“OLED is clearly the future of home TV entertainment and LG is very focused on making this exciting technology as easy as possible for consumers to embrace.” said Havis Kwon, President and CEO of LG Electronics Home Entertainment Company.

It weighs only 7.5kg and is ONLY 4mm thin, from the picture it looks slim and narrow and futuristic. If you was to put this up on the wall, it will look like its part of the wall, I must have one now. The only problem is how is the quality of the speakers? A TV this thin must have a drawback somewhere.

Prices and release dates are not confirmed yet, but would you replace your LED TV with a new thin OLED TV? Leave a comment below

Apple to reveal two new models of next generation iPad’s in January

Sources have revealed to DigiTimes that Apple is to reveal two new models of the next generation iPad’s at the Macworld /iWorld conference scheduled for 26th January 2012.

Apple is coming under pressure from competitors with entry level and mid range tablets, so it would make sense to expand its range of iPads. According to sources the iPad 2 will be competing against Amazon’s Kindle Fire, whilst the two new models will compete against the mid-range and high-end devices.

Previous rumors suggested that the new iPad models will have 7.8 inch screen, well I don’t think this is the case with this rumor.

According to sources both devices will feature a 9.7 inch screen with QXGA (Quantum Extended Graphics Array) resolution of 1536 x 2048 pixels, A6 processor, 5 megapixel or 8 megapixel camera and Dual-LED light bars to strengthen the brightness.

It is not very clear what the differences are between the two next generation iPad models, however we can only have a guess the it could be down to size of memory storage and camera features.

The Macworld / iWorld conference is held over two days and starts on 26th January 2012 at the Moscone Center in San Francisco.

Well, would you ditch your iPad to get the new models? Leave a comment below and joins us on Facebook.
