Google has unveiled a new payment system which would allow online users to subscribe to content online from certain publishers. This move comes just after when Apple launched their online payment system.
What’s the difference between the two? Well first of all, Google will take a 10% commission fee from publishers where as Apple are charging a whooping 30% of the sale price. The One Pass from Google will work on smartphones with Android, on tablets and on Google-related websites and Apple will allow users to download content from iTunes and will be available for the iPad.
Google will also offer to share information with publishers to better understand its customers base whilst Apple suggested that it will not share any data with publishers unless users grant Apple to share the data.
Google is planning to launch the One Pass scheme in Canada, UK, France, Italy, Spain and Germany.
With all these announcements about users paying for online content from publishers would you purchase a pass? And what amount are you willing to pay daily/weekly/monthly? Leave a comment below.
